We are ALL beautiful in His eyes!

Written by Kristi Wells, Women of Compassion Council

I was thinking about my awkward middle school days (pictured right). The hideous gym uniforms, awful hair styles and never feeling really accepted or included. There were “mean girls” who liked to gossip and laugh at others as well as those who made sure only the “cool kids” were invited to their parties. I am sure I was doing some of those same things, except I was talking ugly about the “cool girls” since I wasn’t one of them.

So while that rejection for me as an adolescent was traumatic, it pales in comparison to children who have not only been rejected by peers, but also their own family and the culture around them. Their pain must be so much greater and so much more real. They are helpless and hurting. They feel unaccepted, unwanted and very alone.

Florida Baptist Children’s Homes and One More Child provide hope and healing for children around the world. For the children in our residential care they give them a safe, loving home environment. They try to give them a childhood as normal as possible. But most importantly, they teach them about the love of our Lord and Savior. Jesus purposefully made each child. He loves them and accepts them just the way they are. Genesis 1:31 says: “And God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good…”(ESV)

At our 10 year anniversary event, Christi Haag said she wanted to wake up every day with “God eyes.” She wants to see everyone through His eyes, the way He sees all of us. God didn’t see me as a gangly, awkward teenager. He made me, He loved me and He accepted me.

We are ALL beautiful in His eyes…..awkward and all!
