Dear Friends,
As the first day of school approaches, I am mindful that some of our children are anxious about returning to the classroom. Many of the children who live at Florida Baptist Children’s Homes (FBCH) are several grade levels behind because of difficult past circumstances.
Johnny* is a nine-year-old boy living in one of our emergency shelters. When he arrived, he was two years behind in school. Imagine for a moment being away from your home, family and then being in a new classroom with children much younger than you. Johnny’s situation was far from ideal.
Through the persistent work of our emergency shelter staff and newfound confidence!
The FBCH emergency shelters are 24-hour intake facilities designed for the short-term care of school-age boys andoned, neglected or caught up in a devastating family conflict.
In order to get a child’s education back on track, our staff works persistently to prepare them for the school year ahead. This preparation includes providing the child with specialized tutoring, required school supplies, clothes, care and emergency shelters.
We are committed to making sure all of our children have the required tools to have a successful school year. Please make a gift today to ensure every child has the tools needed to receive a quality education. We cannot properly care for children like Johnny without your partnership.
