The Lord delights in us!

ARE WE LIVING LIKE THE LORD DELIGHTS IN US?
Written by: Steph Shackelford

As I sit down to type this newsletter, my toddler pulls all the cushions off the couch to make a “pillow fort.” The fort is simply a stack of pillows that he crashes into before piling his stuffed animals on top because apparently now the fort is a “car” and he’s driving his animals to the “beach.” I love his imagination that can transform a living room into a day at the beach.

This creativity reminds me of our Creator, who imagined the skies, sea and then created.

However, when our journeys become arduous or confusing, we can forget that we were created because the Lord delights in us.

Our ever-powerful, imaginative Creator not only forgives us, protects us and daughters of righteousness, but he delights in us. As Isaiah 62:3-5 says:

“You shall be a crown of beauty in the hand shall no more be termed Desolate, but you shall be called My Delight Is in Her… for the Lord delights in you…  as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you.”

The question is: Are we living like the Lord delights in us? Or, are we living like we have something to prove?

No matter our stories, we can live in freedom because of this promise: He brought me out into a broad place; he rescued me, because he delighted in me. Psalm 18:19 (ESV)

When we declare this truth with how we live our lives, we give others hope: hope for women rescued out of sex trafficking; hope for children rescued from aband abuse. He rescues you, because He delights in you.

Let’s live into this freedom – the same freedom that compels a child to create with nothing to prove, but simply to enjoy and be enjoyed.
