Haag to Leave Children's Homes

LAKELAND, Fla. – Dr. Jerry Haag, president of the Florida Baptist Children’s Homes announced his resignation at a staff meeting Thursday morning. Haag will be leaving on April 15, 2011 to begin his new responsibilities as vice president of university development at Baylor University, his alma mater.

“Judge Ken Starr has asked me to join his President’s Council and this is His fulfillment of that calling,” Haag said.

As vice president and programs. Most recently, the development office has partnered with President Starr on the $100 million President’s Scholarship Initiative, to be completed in 2013.

“Dr. Haag is an accomplished and professional life,” Starr said.

“Those characteristics make him the right person to help Baylor achieve its ambitious fundraising goals by engaging the entire Baylor family, while confidently reaching out to those outside our family who share our vision and excited to return to the university that I love so dearly,” Haag said.

Haag said that he expects a smooth transition after his departure. “I am working closely with Bobby Musselwhite (chairman of the board of trustees) our board’s executive committee, and our staff leadership to insure there is a smooth transition,” Haag said.
“Knowing that this is God’s will for my family, I am confident of God’s continued protection and families.

Under Haag’s leadership the Children’s Homes has grown from nine locations to 17 domestically, launched an international childcare ministry One More Child, and families cared for by more than 200%.

Haag received his bachelor’s and is a Certified Financial Planner
