Come with us to Guatemala!

Florida Baptist Children’s Homes and One More Child are once again partnering to create a special Women of Compassion mission trip.

The trip is scheduled for November 5-11 and will be a wonderful opportunity for our Women of Compassion to build relationships with each other, see the beautiful country of Guatemala and make a difference in the lives of children being cared for at the Malnutrition Center in San Juan, Guatemala.

2015 Women of Compassion trip

Last fall, I was blessed to travel to Guatemala with other Women of Compassion for the dedication of Hayden’s House, which was funded as a special Women of Compassion project at our 2015 event. Hayden’s House is a home that was constructed on the center’s grounds to allow the administrator to remain continuously on-site to improve and oversee the programs run by the center and the care of the children and families served there.

While in Guatemala, I worked alongside my daughter, Mary-Nanette, and other Women of Compassion in the center’s “Dolphin’s Room” (for infants as well as toddlers with special needs), where we spent our days rocking babies, changing diapers, holding bottles, spooning purées, praying over each child and trying to provide the touch, voice and personal interaction so many of those sweet babies seemed desperate to have. Other Women of Compassion cared for toddlers and school-aged children, helped fold mountains of laundry, distributed food to sponsored families and held devotions and programs for the nannies on staff.
Join us in November!

We were impressed at the quality of the facilities and hard-working nannies, but at the same time, our hearts were burdened by the needs of the center and the struggling families of the children living there. The center is seriously understaffed and relies heavily on volunteers to provide care and nurturing to the precious children there. Until the center is able to develop a more sustainable model of care, it is as vital that teams visit the center as it is that the children living there are restored to health and transitioned back to their families.

Will you check your calendar and prayerfully consider joining us in November? I am certain your life will be changed as you help One More Child impact One More Child in Guatemala!
