One song can spark a moment,
One flower can wake the dream.
One tree can start a forest,
One bird can herald spring.
One smile begins a friendship,
One handclasp lifts a soul.
One star can guide a ship at sea,
One word can frame the goal.
One vote can change a nation,
One sunbeam lights a room.
One candle wipes out darkness,
One laugh will conquer gloom.
One step must start each journey,
One word must start each prayer.
One hope will raise our spirits,
One touch can show you care.
One voice can speak with wisdom,
One heart can know what’s true.
One life can make the difference,
You see, It’s Up to You!
This is one of my all-time favorite poems, and after being part of this group, I am all the more thankful for each and everyONE of you and the difference you are making. Thank You, Women of Compassion, for being that someONE who is making an impact in the lives of the children and families in the care of the Florida Baptist Children’s Homes, Orphans Heart and The Porch Light. We are beyond grateful for YOU and the difference you are making for one more child!
In February, we held our 8th Annual Women of Compassion conference and day of inspiration, and I am still in awe at the pure amazingness of this day. Over 200 of you attended, making it the largest Women of Compassion event yet! Yay, we are growing to impact more children!
I also wanted to share our voting results for those who could not attend and give you just a glimpse at the incredible impact we as ONE group are making. This year’s vote went toward providing funding for our newly-launched Single Mothers and Children program. We currently have two locations were we are serving these courageous moms and their children — in Lakeland and Jacksonville.
One of the brave, strong and beautiful moms who just recently moved into one of our homes and began this journey wrote this:
“Florida Baptist Children’s Homes Single Mothers and Children Program has been an awesome experience for me and my family. With their support, I can give my children many opportunities that I would not have been able to do on my own. My five year old son gets to enjoy his first year playing soccer, something I wouldn’t have been able to do or afford on my own. This program has given me independence as well as someone to hold me accountable and encourage me through everyday struggles. It has been a great blessing for me and my children, and I am so thankful I was given such an amazing opportunity.”
Thank you again
Thank you, again, for helping provide for the future hope of these ladies!
I am blessed to serve alongside you, and I am already looking forward to next year and future opportunities to serve together. Stay tuned, a Women of Compassion day of service and mission trip is in the works to take place this fall and we want you to be part of it all.
I am so very grateful for each and everyONE of you!
For His Children,
