Josh Kelchner’s Story of Hope in the
Children’s Home

LAKELAND, Fla. – Josh Kelchner, a former resident of the Florida Baptist Children’s Homes tells an amazing story of hope for this year’s annual Mother’s Day Offering video.

Kelchner graduated from high school last year and garnered numerous achievements, including the President’s Volunteer Service Award that he received personally from President George Bush. He also received a prestigious appointment to the West Point Military Academy.

However, his early life was not one of comfort and alcohol.

He eventually became the “parent” in the family to his two younger sisters and his siblings were eventually placed in foster care when his mother was taken to jail after violating her parole.

Kelchner initially bounced around from one foster home to another, but eventually found love and guidance provided to Kelchner gave him a sense of security he never had in his early childhood.
