A Caring Family for Your Time of Need

Are you or someone you know experiencing a crisis that is making it difficult to properly care for your children? A Caring Family, supported by a local church and the Florida Baptist Children’s Homes, may be able to help.

We have a network of Caring Families located across the state that are available to provide short term care for your children free of charge while you work to resolve the crisis in your life.

What is the Caring Families Ministry?
Caring Families is a ministry of the local church that is comprised of a network of volunteer Christian families who will take in children from parents that may be temporarily unable to properly care for them for a variety of reasons. This program is totally private and is not associated with the Florida Department of Children and Families or any other state agency.

How does the Caring Families program work?
Parents place their children voluntarily and temporarily with a Caring Family so they can have the time needed to address crisis issues without fear of losing custody.

As a result, many Caring Families become the extended family to a parent that needs help. Again, the Caring Families program does not involve the Florida Department of Children and Families or other child welfare agencies.

What ages of children qualify?
Children of any age from newborn infants to age 18 can be placed with a Caring Family.

How long can children stay with a Caring Family?
Caring Families can provide care for just a night or two or up to a year or more depending on the circumstances. However, the average length of stay with a Caring Family is around 45 days. Again, the length of stay depends entirely upon the needs of the parents.

Who are the Caring Families?
Caring families are parents that have been carefully screened and trained by the Florida Baptist Children’s Homes to voluntarily care for children in their home without compensation. Caring families have a heart for children of all ages and know that you want to be sure that your children are well cared for. They are here to help when you need them.
