Foster parents and their children from the Central Florida area enjoyed a special foster parent appreciation day at the Lakeland campus of the Florida Baptist Children’s Homes. The kids enjoyed swimming in the pool, flying kites, and playing with water balloons, while foster parents took the opportunity to fellowship with one another.

LAKELAND, Fla. - Foster parents and their children from the Central Florida Division gathered at the Lakeland campus on Saturday May 15, for a pool party and BBQ to meet other foster parents, share stories, and celebrate the Children’s Homes’ foster parent ministry. The children enjoyed swimming in the pool, flying kites, and playing with water balloons, while the foster parents were able to fellowship with one another.

Eron Green, administrator for the Children’s Homes’ Central Florida Division said that the event was held in honor of their dedicated foster parents.

“The goal of the event was to recognize those individuals who open their homes to children in need and to celebrate families and children. It was great to see all of the families and children fellowshipping together.”

“ It’s a great feeling knowing that lives are being forever changed because of a foster parents’ willingness to provide a home for a child who has been abused or neglected.  I believe our Lord has a special place in heaven for those that have answered the call to be a foster parent. The need is great!” said Green.

“Foster parents provide loving Christian homes to abused, neglected, and orphaned children. These individuals have opened up their homes and their hearts to precious children that have come from very difficult and sometimes very tragic circumstances. They are truly special people that are serving in such a critically important ministry.”
